PowerMILL 8
PowerMILL 8 includes a number of significant enhancements and speed-ups throughout the program. In particular, improved memory management within the software will give significantly faster calculation times, especially for large, complex components, like press tools for automotive bodywork, and for smaller, highly-detailed models, such as moulds for fine-tolerance and high-accuracy parts.
Other features include improved Roughing to remove any up-stands that might otherwise be left when cutting with a stepover more than 50% of the tool-end diameter, a new Tools Database, improvements to the existing 5-axis swarf machining, and the very powerful tool-axis editing functionality which will enable users to fully optimise cutting conditions and avoid any sudden machine tool movements that could result in a poor surface finish.
PowerMILL 8 also introduces additional modules to fully automate the machining of Blades, Blisks and Impellers and a new Interface to Vericut which will allow existing Vericut users to transfer their PowerMILL projects directly to the application, saving a great deal of work.

Area Clearance Toolpath Tails
An improvement to Area Clearance toolpaths allows you to add different styles of 'tails' to the toolpath under certain stepover conditions.
Tool Database
An easy to use tool database has been added to PowerMILL8 that allows you to perform a search operation to find the required tool.
Dedicated Impeller and Blisk Machining Strategies
New dedicated machining strategies for manufacturing blisk and impeller parts are now available in PowerMILL8.
The 3 machining strategies provide Simultaneous 5-Axis:
Area Clearance
Hub Finishing
Blade Finishing
Improved Surface Swarf Machining
Surface Swarf machining has been improved by the addition of an option that allows toolpaths to follow the surface internal lines where possible.
Interactive Tool Axis Editing
A new powerful toolpath editing tool has been added to PowerMILL8 that allows you to select regions of a toolpath and redefine the tool axis vectors within the region.
Dynamic ViewMILL
Three new Toolbars are now available for controlling Simulation. The Simulation Toolbar, the Machine Toolbar and the ViewMILL Toolbar.
ViewMILL simulations can now be created with a full three dimensional model of the stock. This allows you to rotate and view the ViewMILL machining model from any direction during and after the simulation.
Improved Disk Cutting
New machining strategies specifically for disk cutters has been added to PowerMILL8.
